Bed Bugs

Anxiety and stress are just two of the side effects with living with bedbugs. Psychological effects should not be underestimated. We can help.

  • Cimex lectularius is the bedbug that feeds on human blood
  • Bed bugs are small and agile
  • They will quickly infest a property
  • Bedbugs hide in crevices, cracks in floors and walls, mattresses, headboards, carpeting, boxes and so on
  • They feed every 2 to 3 days
  • They can walk 72metres in one hour to look for a blood meal
  • They shed their skin as they grow
  • Getting rid of bedbugs takes determination – as well as deep cleaning and heat
  • Washing items at 60°c kills the eggs
  • If an item cannot be washed, freezing it for a day or two kills bedbugs and their eggs
  • Bed bugs are resilient and can survive for a year without feeding
  • Some people can have an allergic reaction to bites – itchy red lumps – but other people can be unaffected
  • Bed bugs usually bite in a straight line
  • When food is plentiful, a bed bug will lay up to 5 eggs a day
